Archer’s Nursery

Well, I am officially 38 weeks today. That is SO crazy to write. Instead of another post about all the terrible food I’m eating and what size vegetable he’s compared to this week (a pumpkin, in case you’re wondering), I thought I’d share some pictures of Archer’s nursery. When we found out I was pregnant in July, one of the first things I started to think about was how I would decorate our baby’s nursery. I promise I didn’t just think of superficial things, but hey, homegirl likes to decorate. Once we found out we were having a boy, I started looking for bedding sets to give me some direction and found a whole lot of nothing. It seems like the only options for little boys are monkeys, trains, and a plethora of chevron. Nothing against these things, but they’re not our style and definitely don’t go with the rest of our house. I eventually stumbled upon a vintage map at an antique mall and kind of fell in love with the idea of adventure. It didn’t end up being too theme-y because I wanted to keep it simple, but it does have a little “go and see the world” feel. It may or may not be my favorite room in the house.

I decided to take some pictures of it before Archer is born because, let’s be honest, it will never look think neat or put together once he arrives. I definitely did everything as frugally as possible and just love how it turned out!

Aaron made this awesome pallet sign to hang and his room, and I stenciled some of our favorite hymn lyrics on it using this tutorial. It took forever, but I didn’t want to freehand it and end up hating the result. I’m hoping it will serve as a reminder of the Lord’s blessing when I’m awake at 3am. Ha! :)

We got our crib off Craigslist for $50, and they even threw in a free mattress! (Don’t worry… We didn’t keep it.) When we bought it, it was spray painted gold. I mean, GOLD. Every time I looked at it, I thought, “This is probably similar to the crib that Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby sleeps in.” It was a little much, so Aaron and I refinished it to fit more with our (my) style.

I designed the canvas in Photoshop, and our friend Dave cut down a Hobby Lobby frame to fit it. (If you have any carpentry needs, Dave is incredibly talented… Hit him up!)

I decided to go pretty neutral with Archer’s bedding and LOVE how it turned out. The bumper fabric is Riley Blake Designs that I found on clearance on Etsy, and the crib skirt is linen that I got for 40% off at Joann’s. Adrienne Tucker (a friend from church) did the bumper and skirt, and they look amazing! We seriously have the most talented friends.

I really love that I’ll be able to use the crib skirt for future Crawford babies.
