Wombo Whackjobs

My home church in Jacksonville, FL is a HUGE part of my life. My mom first brought me to CFC when I was about a year old, so it is all I’ve known for over twenty years now. Dang… That’s a long time. The past two summers, I’ve been so stinkin’ blessed to serve as the Sr. High Ministry Intern. Currently, I’m in the Charlotte airport headed home for Breakaway (the Sr. High’s fall retreat). I could not be more excited. Seriously… I just had a quad from Starbucks. I’m actually a little shaky. Over the past two summers, I’ve gotten to know some incredible students. They are so fun (and a little ridiculous) and so in love with the Lord. It’s been really hard to leave them because they are such a big part of my life, but I rest in the Lord’s promise from Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

One of my last few days in Actionville, I met up with an awesome group of these high schoolers. They call themselves the Wombo Whackjobs (don’t ask me… I have no clue), and they are one of the many small groups with the Sr. High youth group. These girls are seriously awesome. I don’t just consider them my students, but I consider them my friends. It was Tori’s birthday, and they were all staying out at Atlantic Beach for the night to celebrate. What an awesome night… Taking pictures of six beautiful girls?? Yes, please! Here are some of my favorites from the day…

You might be wondering why they’re laughing so hard… Just seconds prior to this picture, I legitimately fell into the bushes. At least my klutziness is good for something…

I think this is one of my favorite pictures ever, despite the fact that it’s completely out of focus. It just reminds me of summer & friendship, and those are probably two of the best things in the world. :)

But here’s one that’s actually in focus for those of you who like that sort of thing…
