Wedding Wednesday | Food!

Yes, food gets an explanation point behind it because I love it so much. Obviously, it’s not Wednesday, but it’s my blog, and I can do whatever I want. I know that was bad grammar… Just go with it. Today, I want to talk about the topic of wedding day food. Like everything else, there are so many options to choose from, and it can be a bit overwhelming. Should you serve a formal, sit-down dinner? Just have heavy appetizers? Or maybe a buffet? So many options!!! Here are a few tips I have for having the most enjoyable wedding day food:

-Be you! Yes, you can still be yourself when picking your wedding day food. Aaron & I are NOT fancy people. This is probably a huge shock to most of you. For us, it was a no-brainer to skip the traditional wedding caterer and go with Sonny’s BBQ, one of our favorites, for our dinner. Not only was the dinner more laid back because of this, but I actually ENJOYED our food and scarfed down a whole plate of pulled pork and mac & cheese. If you HATE fish (what is wrong with you!?), don’t have it at your wedding just because it’s the thing to do!

-Don’t worry too much about pleasing your guests. Obviously, you don’t want to serve food that everyone will hate, but you’re never going to please everyone. I’m sure there were people that did not love our choice of BBQ, but guess what?! We LOVED it, so I don’t care… And I say that in the nicest way possible. :)

-In a lot of situations, your venue will limit who you can use as your caterer. Just embrace this, and make the best of the situation! You may not have many options when it comes to dinner, but there still may be a few ways that you can personalize your food! I absolutely LOVE what our friends Liza & Jordan did at their wedding last summer… They had Rita’s Italian Ice served to each guest as they were walking from the ceremony to the reception. Not only was it SO them, but it was the perfect treat to enjoy during a July wedding in Florida!
